Bromley Ski Patrol

Mountain Safety
Bromley Ski Patrol has been keeping guests and our beloved mountain terrain safe and accessible since 1936!
Ski Patrol is a team of highly trained, passionate mountain professionals dedicated to ensuring the safety of skiers and snowboarders on the mountain throughout the season. The patrol operates under the supervision of the Patrol Director, Tim Harmon, and is responsible for emergency medical care, assessing trail conditions, closing unsafe terrain, rescue operations, and daily risk management.
Patrol works closely with the all-volunteer Bromley Mountain and Resort Host program to enhance guest guidance and support. Our Mountain Hosts are trained in Outdoor First Care, complementing the top-to-bottom coverage of Bromley’s expertly trained Ski Patrol. The patrol also works closely with Mountain Operations, Lift Operations, and Snowsports School.
Ski Patrol is staffed from 8:30am to 5:00pm daily.
Patrol Locations
The Ski Patrol First Aid Room is located on the ground floor of the base area (east side) with accessible access.
On-Mountain Ski Patrol Headquarters is at the summit, off the Sun Mountain Express Quad, next to the observation tower.
Our Patrol Satellite location, used when weather delays summit access or during busy times, is in the snowmaking building next to the top of the Alpine Chair—facing the Spring Trail entrance.

Know the Code: Skier's and Snowboarder's Responsibility Code
1. Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
2. People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
3. Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
4. Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
5. Prevent runaway equipment.
6. Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
7. Stay off closed trails and out of closed areas.
8. Know how to load, ride, and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
9. Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
10. If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and with a ski area employee.
Tips for Staying Safe
Parents, please ensure your children have their “location on” or “share my location” on their mobile device or think about using an Apple ID tag. This can help you and our Ski Patrol find them in the event of an emergency or if they are lost.
Please be familiar with our Terrain Park Rules when playing in the parks. There are Park Rangers circulating through the parks checking on features and ensuring everyone is following park rules.
Please adhere to our slow zones marked by signage around the mountain and especially in the base area and where many trails merge together.
While it is tempting to venture off trail, please stay in bounds and enjoy the Bromley groomed trails, bumps and multiple wooded/gladed terrain. Heading out of bounds and off premises puts yourself and our Ski Patrollers at unnecessary risk. We have had skiers get lost.
Uphill travel has become increasingly popular and can take place on designated trails; before, during, and after hours. Please ensure, for your safety, someone knows your location and whereabouts – especially before and after hours. We ask that you comply with the mountain policy regarding uphill travel found on our trail map and posted signage.
Additional National Ski Area Association sponsored safety messages for helmet safety, lift safety, collision safety and deep snow safety can be found here.
Bromley will comply with Vermont law (12 V.S.A. § 1038) for all collisions between skiers/riders.
